RV Park Review: Moab Valley RV Resort and Campground

Friday, August 17, 2018
It's FRIDAY and we've decided it's time for a short series on our blog called "RV Park Review" (for lack of a wittier title. haha).

We've had Penny for almost two years and have visited quite a bit of campgrounds, we thought it would be nice to share our experiences with you.

Park name: Moab Valley RV Resort and Campground
Location: Moab, UT
Dates we visited: end of June 2017

I found this RV park using Google Maps when I was trying to find a good location to camp while visiting Moab.

(picture of our RV set up on the left and our friends across from us on the right.)

After doing some research for our Utah trip, I knew we wanted to visit Arches National Park and needed a campground closeby.

Moab Valley RV Resort was perfect.

I mean, come on. Check out the backdrop.

The ladies in the office were super nice. They even had warm chocolate chip cookies waiting for everyone checking in! The check-in process was easy and fast.

The site was a perfect size for our RV + the CR-V. The site provided a picnic bench and plenty of room to sit.

The RV park had a pool that our kids enjoyed - we went at the end of June so it was extremely HOT. The pool water left much to be desired in terms of cleanliness, but I suspect that a lot of it was because of the dust from the red rocks surrounding the area.

Another con? MOSQUITOES. Seriously. Bring insect repellant. Citronella candles. Holy water. ANYTHING. I literally got bit on the first night (granted, I was the one BBQing outside at night) over 30 times! That made for an almost miserable beginning to our trip. Because Moab is right next to the Colorado River, which is pretty much standing water in the summer, mosquitoes are ALL OVER THE PLACE.

All in all, our experience was very good. Ten minutes to Arches National Park. 30 Minutes to Canyonlands National Park. 10 minutes to Downtown Moab. Definitely one of our favorite RV parks.

What a year we had!

I say this all the time - we need to be better bloggers! Here's a quick collage of 2017!

What a fabulous year we had!

Yes, I know it's August, but it's time to get this blog active again. :)

RV Park Review: Fall Camping at Casini Ranch (Duncans Mills, CA)

Friday, March 23, 2018
Where: Casini Ranch, Duncans Mills, CA
When: October 2016

It's been a little over a year since we've had our RV and I just realized we haven't used this blog the way it was intended! *facepalm*

So, from here on out, I'm going to make every effort to post regularly (even though people really don't read blogs anymore, do they? haha).

This post is going to be the first of a short series of posts reviewing RV parks we've been to. We'll show you a few pictures and tell you about our stay. Hopefully this will help someone in their decision making when staying at certain RV parks because, as we all know, it's not easy to try and figure out if a park will suit your needs based on a Google or Yelp review.

Since it's been quite some time since we'd been on our trip, I can't remember what site number we were at (sorry, I know that's no help!). I do remember that we were right across the boat dock at the Russian River.

The site was large enough for our RV and even though we didn't tow a vehicle, it would have still had plenty of room to park it and also set up camp. We had friends who reserved the spot next to ours and they had a truck and a pop up trailer and had plenty of room to spare.

The site we chose was partial hookup. The sites on the riverfront are all partial hookup, whereas the sites toward the center of the park are full hookup.

This was our third time camping at Casini Ranch and our first official time taking the RV on a trip as a family. We even brought my parents along. The first two times at Casini were tent camping trips. The tent sites are pretty spacious and provide a lot of privacy between sites. There are plenty of trees that provide a lot of shade, too.

So much fun.

And let's not forget this awesome guy who's responsible for getting us all to safety! This calls for an official celebratory Filipino BBQ skewer! This meal is seriously a MUST for ALL of our camping trips!

So tell us: Have you been to Casini Ranch? What did you think? Let us know! And what do you think of this new series on our blog! Let us know what you want to hear about!

Til next time...

Meet our new RV.

Sunday, April 2, 2017
We had been toying around with the idea of purchasing an RV for about 6-8 months. We love camping. We love traveling. But most of all, we love spending time together as a family.

Carl was mostly responsible for doing the research and finding one that best suited our family.

And after months and months of searching, we found the most perfect one.

Meet our new RV:

(September 2016)

We vlogged about our buying process. It will be up on our You Tube channel soon someday. :)

Meanwhile, I thought I'd share a few pictures here:

(proud RV owner. It's massive. Don't even ask if I'm able to drive it.)

It's absolutely perfect for our family of 5 and it has enough room for a couple more guests. There's a queen bed in the back bedroom, a bunk that sleeps 2, a pull out couch with a queen air mattress and a jack-knife sofa that can sleep a couple of small kids (if you want). The kitchen dinette can also convert to a small bed, but we don't plan on doing it. The previous owners installed it after they bought the RV and it's not too stable.

It still has plenty of room!

We took it on a maiden voyage as a family and even brought my parents along - blog post coming soon! But, needless to say, it really fit us comfortably and we didn't even feel cramped at all.

We found this beauty in Pennsylvania and after going back and forth about it, we decided to book one way plane tickets for the two of us and drive this beast back.

Needless to say, we drove it back in 3.5 days.

Well, of course, Carl did all of the 2900+ miles of driving (I took over for about 12 minutes at some point in Wyoming!). He says he will never, ever do that trip again. It definitely took a toll on him and his sanity.

We can't wait to share our adventures with you, so stay tuned!

Merry Christmas from Us.

Wishing you all a wonderful and Merry Christmas this holiday season. So happy and lucky to be able to spend ours with family, friends, and loved ones.

Back to School!

Tuesday, August 23, 2016
It's back to school in the V household.

And I can say that I'm SUUUUUPPPPERRRRR excited!

But...

Fourth and Second grades?! Where did time go?! Slow down, my babies! Oh the irony of the whole situation!

BTW, we were in such a rush that morning that I didn't realize my 9 year old is wearing MY shoes. Thank goodness it was a minimum day! LOL

And hello?!

You can just FEEL the excitement, can't you?!

Can't wait until the 3rd one goes back in 2 weeks! It's only for 3 hours a day for 3 days a week, but still...

Mamas, I know you feel me on this! :)

Here's to a happy and healthy school year!

The first one...

[December 2015 | photo cred to our good friend Mel who takes our family pictures almost every year for our Christmas cards! We always receive the most awesome compliments because of them!]

I guess we should start by welcoming you to our new family blog! We had been talking about this for quite a while and decided to just commit and, as Nike says, JUST DO IT.

We're high-school sweethearts who have been together for 20+ years (married for 10+). We both work full time (night shift - EEK!). We are committed to each other and our three kids. We love all things Hawaii and Disney! We love going on adventures together and we can't wait to share the rest of our awesome country we live in with our kids (who, by the way, think there's nothing more than Hawaii and Disneyland. LOL).

We get asked a lot about things to do and where to eat so hopefully this blog will be a one-stop resource for our friends!

We also get asked how in the heck we have time to do what we do when we have such a busy family! LOL Well, the answer is simple: when you do what you enjoy or love doing, you really do make time to do it.

I've been blogging since, what seems, like the beginning of time. I wrote personal blogs about 'NSync (showing my age here!), my life and things I love, scrapbooking, cardmaking (I still maintain that one HERE), getting married, being pregnant with my first... but I never maintained a blog about our family. I guess that by starting this blog, I can really keep a good history of our family during this time of our lives - it might help me later down the road when I *finally* get caught up with the family scrapbooks!

So, if you're reading this, we want to know: what would you like to see on this blog?

Day to day life?

Our Travels?

Recipes?

Tips?

Things we love? Recommendations?

We'd love to hear what you think!

Be sure to follow us on social media - links are in the top right corner until I figure out how to link them in the sidebar. haha

Thanks for stopping by!
